Study Construction Site
In the recent news headline, a certain company has been popping up lately. In order to get an idea about the ins and outs of the functioning of ABC Company, Straits Times have exclusively gotten this expert on a Nanyang Polytechnic Alumnus who interned at ABC Company as part of her attachment.
“Interning at ABC Company was an experience I don’t think I’ll ever get again at any other company. I studied mechanical engineering at Nanyang Polytechnic and for my 6 months attachment program, I was assigned to ABC Company. At first, I was quite sceptical about being put under a construction company. But after the first 3 months, I slowly realised how construction wasn’t as boring or complicated as it sounds to be.
My supervisors and staff were very friendly and helped me adjust to the life at the company. I learned about the care and safety procedures that they company implements with an iron fist as they care about their employees, especially those constantly on site. Although I did not get the chance to be always on the project site, I got to learn a lot about the work behind the scenes. Such as meeting with different clients in order to start and close deals.
I also got to get a glimpse of the many different departments at ABC Company and the way they function by keeping each other updated, regardless of the different teams and departments they were in. For example, Engineering departments regularly hang out and chat up with Design or Marketing team. From this, I have learnt the importance of keeping closer relationships with not just your colleagues but even those who work in the same company as you.”
